Lucknow: State Bank of India (SBI), Lucknow Circle handed over a cheque of Rs 1 Crore Insurance Claim to the family of the Martyred soldier.
SBI’s AMC Cantt. Branch, Lucknow handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore under personal accidental insurance claim to Durga Devi Gurung, wife of martyred soldier late Hom Bahadur Gurung, reaffirming strength of SBI’s Defence Salary Package (DSP) and bank’s commitment to serving the armed forces. The soldier, a Nepal native, attained martyrdom on August 16, 2025, while serving with the Gorkha Rifles.

The cheque was presented by Awantika Singh Mishra, Regional Manager, SBI and Col Devesh Jayant Joshi in presence of Deepti Dwivedi, AGM (Deposit & VAS), SBI, other bank officials and army officers. The Bank has facilitated a process allowing deposits and clearances of cheque issued in Lucknow at any SBI branch in Nepal, easing international transactions for the soldiers’ family.
